VEGAN OPTIONS IN AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS! + more guides!

While in Amsterdam, we were fortunate to find a good amount of vegan options while we explored the city!

golden-temple-2

Golden Temple Vegetarian Restaurant, one of the first vegetarian restaurants in Amsterdam was established in 1973. They definitely held onto that hippie vibe that I assume they had in the 70s. A beautiful restaurant with a very attentive staff, we were excited to have a few appetizers to hold us off for dinner. golden temple

Most of their menu is vegan or items can be made vegan. We decided to share the guacamole & chips and the soup of the day.golden-temple

We enjoy the food and our time there. We weren’t able to return to try some entrees but will the next time we’re in Amsterdam!

maoz1

I have so much love for Maoz. I mentioned in my post about vegan options in Paris that there are locations throughout the U.S. and Europe. You can find four locations in Amsterdam!

maoz

At very affordable prices, you can get a falafel sandwich and customize your endless toppings at the salad bar. Because Maoz is so affordable and convenient, we found ourselves eating there the most while in Amsterdam. (Below you can see one of the four locations.)

terrazen-centre

Surprisingly, Terrazen Centre is a long-lived veggie staple in Amsterdam as well. Established in 1973, (just like Golden Temple!) Terrazen Centre, a completely vegan restaurant, combines Caribbean and Japanese cuisines.

They offer a dinner special that features soup, salad and the entree of the day.

bagel-beans

We found Bagel & Beans to be a great choice for breakfast. Like Maoz, they have MANY locations throughout Amsterdam. I ordered the avocado with tomatoes & lettuce on day and hummus with sun-dried tomatoes & rucola (arugula) on a different day.

sugar-and-spice

We went to Sugar and Spice Bakery to have a snack and ordered the yummy vegan banana-almond cake. I particularly liked the interior of the restaurant because they have an exposed kitchen which gives a comforting homelike vibe.

I also noticed on the menu that they have a vegan brunch platter!

litedark

Lite/Dark is a juice bar that full of fruit and veggie options. They make the juices right in front of you and bottle them for a convenient snack on the go. You can find Lite/Dark near Sugar and Spice Bakery.

heineken

And Heineken is vegan! It’s not common knowledge that not all alcohol is vegan but Heineken is. (For more information on which alcohol is vegan Barnivore is a great resource.) So feel free to participate in the “Heineken Experience” and see how one of the oldest beers in the world is made.
